The problem is that the cliché is wrong. It needs some depth to it. Crash does a decent job, but really only in the first game. After that, it just becomes propaganda, and no different to all the countless examples of anti-male radicle feminist sexism from The Simpsons to Harley Quinn (some 40 years, in other words). (Not that it's always that, but it typically lacks real depth and a very important three-dimensional quality. And The Simpsons has become much worse over the years, as a famous, old example.) The generally better cliché is the dumb blonde and smart male, but this is rarely felt these days due to radical feminism across entertainment (though it's not always good, either). An extreme example was how Penny went from dumb blonde to super-smart businessman or something in The Big Bang Theory. People cannot change like that. That's not how IQ, interest, or personality works in the real world. The culture and writers and bosses/quotas radically shifted between 2007 and 2017. That's what happened to the show, and many others. Just ten years, but by the time Gen-Z become older and more powerful (circa 2013-2017), things were very corrupted, and almost everything was flipped upside down, even more than had already been the case across Western entertainment since Gen Y. It's easy to see this by just comparing modern cinema with old cinema, and the various clichés, stories, and themes at play. But, honestly, both clichés are less than ideal. Ideally, we should be aiming for archetypes, not clichés. But, if you want cliché, it at least needs to be good and timeless, and in keeping with most fans and their lives (i.e. thematic as to teach them something; otherwise, it's just propaganda and forcing something unhelpful onto the viewer, or else is completely pointless, boring, and ignored). Most of all, it should be in helping them, not insulting them. This is a major issue with things like modern Star Wars, for example. Just compare Lucas and Episode IV with the recent writers and movies. The difference is literally unthinkable. There is a good technical reason that Crash is a little dumb or clueless, though, but it's not because he's male, it's because he's the hero in this setting and game framework. It makes the player feel a bit dumb and scared, which is what the game is going for. The player is inexperienced, so Crash should be, too. This is not the only way to create a game -- and not all games are difficult -- but it's very common and helps sync up player and character/avatar. It's a difficult game and filled with danger for the character and player (in-game), so this is often reflected at both levels and synced up. Of course, you can actually do this without making him useless and contrasting him with a super-smart young female, and I've seen it happen many ways over the years. We must do this very carefully. It's true, however, that in general teenage girls are smarter and more mature than male teenagers, largely due to biology -- and both sexes have a clear understanding of this. This is why it's more common and makes more sense in a teenage setting. But, to simply say 'all males are completely stupid' is itself very untrue and unwise, but is quite a common form of storytelling these days. Ideally, it should be helping the males through it in some way, as opposed to just shaming them, which is the more common route today (since at least the 2000s, more so, the 2010s). At the same time, it can teach the females to actually be good and helpful, not merely cruel and dangerous in relation to the males. Again, Crash 1 does a decent job of this (some clear evidence being that he wins the girl/saves his girlfriend at the end of the game, and flies her home). This vital message and clear understanding of symbolism, storytelling, theme, morality, and sexuality -- and the relationship and two natures of the sexes -- becomes corrupted as the games press on. All of this to say, it's about exactly how you deal with the cliché and if you truly understand it or not. I found the story and characters of Crash 2, 3, and 4 to be much worse than 1. Now, the key to good video game characters are the other elements, not just the cliché nature of them or their stories. Every element matters and must be fully understood. Again, Crash 1 did the best job of this. Naughty Dog understood this so well, in fact, that they refused to use voice actors for Crash 1. I think Crash 4 proved that this was very wise game design, and showed great understanding of storytelling, gameplay, and player interaction from Naughty Dog. Nintendo also understands this, which is why most of their characters are either silent, noise machines, or text-based; they rarely use English (language) voice actors. Adding voice actors are often 'lame, negative, and distract from identification with them'. This from Naughty Dog, and they are 100% right. That's just one element of many, and the profound level of talent, exactness, and clear-thinking required to be a great dev and storyteller.

I play on Switch Lite and I am enjoying it!

I played the first star ocean remake in switch and I loved it. Now I'm playing the second one but it feels weird. I understand the changes are for good, but i really hate the teleport thing and knowing where the PA will take place. I don't even gather the dragon guy and inmediatelly im doing a quest to remove the dragons. Everything's going so fast teleporting from town to town that I don't even traveling the world or talking to people. I just go where the minimaps told me. I don't travel towns or dungeons, I just know where the quest mark is. Yeah, I know I don't need to use it, but it already "perverted" the game for me.... Maybe I'm an old school gamer (I love ff11 for example instad of modern mmorpg's). I think I'll try the psp version or drop the saga

3:43 Ah no wonder playing the PC version felt a bit different combat-wise, even if I've played / finished the original version on PS1 lots of times for many years. I thought I was just getting rusty from not having played the game again until recently for the PC remaster 😅 To be honest I'm surprised to find out that there were differences for combat-related stuff between the English and Japanese games for the original PS1 verion.

Squall in the Remaster looks just terrible, incongruous with his original both with regard to in game model and CGI cutscenes.

Best versions: Most "Pure": Super Famicom/Snes Most Content: GBA/Steam Mobile Best Compromise?: Pixel Remaster This and V are perhaps the only pixel remaster i would consider recommending to someone. But unlike V, this one's Pixel Remaster is visually worse in nearly every way when compared to the original. The GBA version does have the most content still.

Best versions: Most "Pure": Super Famicom Most Content: GBA/Steam Mobile Best Compromise?: Pixel Remaster This and VI are perhaps the only pixel remaster i would consider recommending to someone. While the GBA version does have the most content, the pixel remaster arguably is otherwise actually a compromise that doesn't sacrifice as much as it offers, unlike the previous 4 games.

Best versions: Most "Pure": Super Famicom (or SNES, but with caveats) Most Content: PSP Different Game: 3D (Steam) I think i would only recommend the pixel remaster to someone who cannot or will not "procure" a means of playing the others, and just cannot abide the 3d look.

Kinda sad that you cannot change tracks between the Reloaded and Fes versions of the OST. Mass Destruction is one of the most iconic songs in the entirety of Persona, and I feel SMT as a whole, that only having the (again, IMO) weaker Reloaded version is kind of sad. Everything else is nigh-on-perfect for a remake, but I miss the original soundtrack so much when I'm playing Reload.

I replay the PS1 version every year over the christmas holidays with the remake I didnt think anything feeling really off gameplay wise from that compared to like the N Sane trilogy version of Crash 1. Klonoa 2 I still have on PS2 I havent played through it any where near as many times as door to phantomile so even if there was some tweaks with gameplay I didnt notice it

sega versions of both games and sound effects are better in my opinion. they have better colors and overall better graphics, performance and experience. but if i haven’t the choice of playing both i would go for the sega versions without doubt. i noticed they have also made in DLC more features for Aladdin and the Jungle book game is available now. live these classes and hope they keep them coming. i did also buy Ufouria. very nice game. i did also but Tarzan. but sadly the resolution is very low and can’t be played with a controller since it’s not compatible like the lion king and Aladdin. but as an experience i love playing these old games. maybe because us people that have played as children do like classic games because they bring out memories. and the good old days.

Missed all these classic games during growing up(didnt play games at all between ps1´s FF7 and up to the VIRUS Covid appeared and was locked in at how due to that+sickness) But i have played alt of games n tried even moore during the last few years now and i start to notice that games from before are made in a better way when it comes to the story and pure feelings it comes with them during gameplay VS new games from the 2000´s latest 15 years and to mention the games released after 2017-2019 that seems to be just alot of bad ones released to get a quick buck for the ones making them(might just be me though) But oldr games has a special feeling when i play them...dont know why newer releases miss a special feeling that these have(I cant really explaine it better unfortunatly i dont have the vocabulary in english due to its my 2nd language in Sweden where im borne) But games like this is somehow better made w less vs new games that uses graphics more then story and alot of other things compared to older ones might be the case? P3P was my first. And I played as FeMC. I’m heavily biased towards her version of the game. Picking up Reload soon even though that’s not my version of P3.

Zero/ZX Collection is top tier quality, anyone, new players wanting to play the Zero/ZX arcs, or veterans that want to replay them should just go for the collection. I'm still pissed because no new games continuing from the loose ends (Legends 3, X9 and specially ZX3) but credit where credit is due. This collection is absolutely worth it.

Strangely i was waiting to do the remake when i finish off the original but i got impatient so i went ahead and started it.

Holy shit I never even realised p3p added so many gameplay improvements??? It was my first experience with the game and I didn't know so many basic quality of life features weren't there from the start. I think we all focus on the way worse visual changes for obvious reasons, but its worth aknowledging how much good was done here. Bloody hell you couldn't change equips from the menu?? That's nuts lol. (Lack of weapon changing still kinda sucks though. wish that hadn't been kept in later games cos its clear it only happened here to minimize the amount of new animations needed for the femc)

steam version clears

I know this video is old. but the version you should play should you have the ability to do so. Is Final Fantasy 7 on PC. Heavily modded. I have that game looking so good it feels like I'm playing it for the first time. I've never done a playthrough on a game I've beaten before with such a new wide wonder about it.
